North Star Air extends northern network

Thunder Bay’s North Star Air announced April 12 that it has connected with Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope).

The new services will connect Thunder Bay, Fort Hope, Neskantaga and Webequie.

Currently, there are daily flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Starting April 19, North Star will be offering flights on Tuesday and Thursday, bringing it to a six days a week.

All flights will be flown on their Pilatus PC-12 turbine-powered aircraft.

North Star flies into 18 destinations in Northern Ontario, of which 80 per cent are First Nation communities.

"Fort Hope is a perfect new community to add to our growing network and we look forward to servicing Fort Hope with our cost efficient charter, passenger, cargo and fuel services,” said North Star Air CEO Frank Kelner in a statement. “Such an addition also positions us to serve those businesses involved in the economic development and growth of that area."
