The donation of a Bell 430 helicopter airframe to Canadore College will help train students in the school’s aviation program.
Bell Helicopter announced it was donating the frame to the college on Dec. 11.
“Our customers use our products for critical, life-saving missions all around the world, and we are honoured to donate the Bell 430 airframe to help prepare students for a future career in the aviation industry,” Bell’s Richard Airlie said in a news release.
The specialized airframe will provide students in Canadore’s School of Aviation Technology with hands-on training through demonstration and simulation.
“We are extremely thankful and fortunate to have a long-standing partner like Bell Helicopter, who understands the vital role that donations play in training the workforce of the future,” school president George Burton said in the release. “This contribution adds to our current fleet, and will allow our students to cross-train on a variety of equipment, which prepares them to successfully integrate into the aviation industry.”
The Bell 430 airframe will be used as a part of Canadore’s world-class avionics program, one of the college’s eight full-time aviation-driven programs.
Last month Canadore College announced an expansion to its dedicated Aviation Technology Campus with the addition of its Advanced Composites Fabrication, Repair and Test Centre (ARC-TC) facility, which will have the ability to support innovative research, industrial applications, testing services, business incubation and more. Canadore College has been a leader in aviation training for over 40 years and has more than 3,000 graduates working as aviation professionals across Canada and around the globe.
Bell Helicopter’s airframe contribution helps the company to satisfy its commitment to Canada's Industrial and Regional Benefits (IRB) Policy. The policy requires companies that win defence and security contracts with the Government of Canada to place business activities in Canada at the same value of the contract.
