Glencore Sudbury V-P goes international

Marc Boissonneault, Glencore’s vice-president of Sudbury’s nickel operations, has been promoted to head of the company’s international nickel assets. He officially began the job on Oct. 1.

“Marc Boissonneault will be travelling extensively across Glencore’s global Nickel business,” said a Glencore spokesperson in an emailed statement. “He and his family will maintain their home in Sudbury.

Besides Canada, the Swiss-based miner has nickel operations in Australia, Norway, New Caledonia and Dominican Republic.

His successor is Peter Xavier, who was director at the company’s Nickel Rim South operation in Sudbury.

Xavier, a graduate of Laurentian University’s mining engineering program, has worked as a mine manager at Thayer Lindsley and Strathcona in the Sudbury basin.
