The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating the circumstances behind the June 3 death of a Detour Gold Mine employee.
The company was notified, Aug. 31, that the police were now involved with the Ministry of Labour at the open pit mine site, 185 kilometres northeast of Cochrane.
Ministry investigators were at the mine gathering additional information this week.
“We will continue to cooperate fully with the police and the Ministry of Labour in this investigation,” said the company in a release.
Detour CEO Paul Martin is scheduled to be in Timmins, Sept. 17, to speak at the local chamber event held at the Porcupine Dante Club to provide an update on the company’s operations.
