Reliant Gold Corp. has staked 56 claim units totalling 896 hectares in the McVicar Lake area 90 kilometres west of Pickle Lake.

Dubbed the East Bay Property, the claims cover a series of historical gold occurrences and prospects.

Errol Farr, Reliant’s president and CEO, said in a news release that the acquisition was the first step in a strategy to seek out prospective mineral properties in North America.

“The company plans to conduct an exploration program in the summer of 2015, which may include prospecting, soil and surface rock sampling and geophysics to better understand the geologic setting and identify potential drill targets,” Farr said.

Farr also expressed support for Goldcorp’s recent acquisition of Probe Mines, which holds interests at the Borden Lake gold discovery, located near Chapleau.

Reliant holds a 49 per cent joint venture interest in the Borden Lake South Property, comprised of 20 mining claims representing 294 claim units covering approximately 4,704 hectares.
