Francophone entrepreneurs in Timiskaming will have greater access to a range of business support services, thanks to new funding from FedNor.
FedNor Minister Patty Hajdu announced on Feb. 21 that the Centre d'éducation des adultes de New Liskeard would receive $185,821 to support the second phase of their Entrepreneurial Leadership for Francophones project.
The project, which launched in 2020, helps Francophone entrepreneurs sell online and do social media marketing, and provides guidance through workshops and webinars to help them develop new skills and expand existing knowledge.
During the second phase of the project, resources will be provided to youth entrepreneurs and help connect entrepreneurs with other community programs and services.
“We are grateful to be able to contribute to the economic development of businesses in the District of Timiskaming,” said Peggy Morin, coordinator at the Adult Education Centre, in a news release.
“Thanks to FedNor's investment and the support of the partners and organizations involved in this project, entrepreneurs will be better supported and supervised, thus enabling them to update and modernize their services and products in order to counter the commercial effects linked to the pandemic.”
The government said the funding will enable 15 workshops, with more than 200 participants, to be held, 12 jobs will be created or maintained, two new businesses will be created, and 14 partnerships will be created or maintained.
Funding for the project comes through FedNor's Economic Development Initiative.
