Sudbury’s 3rdLine.Studio is a mid-sized architectural practice with more than 37 years of successful projects behind them. They know how to design and build in the north.

They offer a full range of architectural services, having done residential, commercial, institutional and industrial work across Northern Ontario and beyond. They are committed to sustainable building practices and are mindful of costs with every project.

Their portfolio includes an impressively wide range of project types. They have built new forms of housing for seniors and assistive living solutions, as well as learning environments for students of all ages. They’ve completed First Nations projects, commercial projects for businesses, specialized industrial projects for light and heavy industry, and projects that help define public spaces in the community at large.

Recently, 3rdLine.Studio was proud to announce the appointment of Vanessa Vachon, PQS, GSC, M.A.A.T.O., as a partner in the firm. A Professional Quantity Surveyor, Vachon has 12 years of experience providing construction management and architectural services.

Vachon is known for her strong leadership and project management skills, as well as a deep store of technical building knowledge. She has led the successful development of contract documents for buildings valued up to $30M.

She works with institutional and private sector corporate clients on a wide variety of projects, of all types and scales, and her focus has been on project management leadership. She excels at managing the trade contractors and the contract documents that allow buildings to be constructed, leading the costing analysis and value engineering throughout project development.

She is a member of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) and the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario (AATO).

Born and raised in Sudbury, Vachon has been around the construction industry since she was a child. A proud French Canadian, she hopes to be able to contribute to French communities in the north.

Vachon is now one of five partners at the firm, alongside Mike Ladyk, Tim James, Angèle Dmytruk and Sergio Cacciotti.

The aim at 3rdLine.Studio—on all of their projects—is to create meaningful spaces for their clients, on budget and on time. With Vachon in this new role, clients can look forward to more exciting builds with a talented and seasoned professional at the helm.
