Canadore College’s ICAMP focuses on product innovation

Since 1972, Canadore College (Canadore) has been offering students in the North Bay area programs in the applied arts and technology. Located 180 minutes north of Toronto, Canadore has three campuses in North Bay and one in Parry Sound. 

Canadore College is committed to experiential learning and applied research, as articulated through the College's Strategic Plan, specifically: “We will focus on learning and our learning environment. Canadore students will have the opportunity for experiential learning and applied research. Canadore College continues to develop its applied research capacity and activity to support and promote economic health for the College and surrounding area.”

Canadore College campuses serve as hubs of activity in the community for training, research, recreation, social and learning activities.The College has a proven track record with innovative applied research, specifically designed to meet the needs of industry, while contributing economically to the region.

The Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping (ICAMP) provides the necessary resources for companies to research and create new products without heavy investment in the specific enabling technologies. This industrial centre is focused on product innovation, allowing companies to access the technologies and resources for the development or refinement of new or existing products and processes.

ICAMP has completed over 700 projects with over 300 individual companies, ranging from short-term technical assistance to multi-year complex applied research projects.

ICAMP projects have helped to create or retain over 300 jobs in Northern Ontario. 

Combining cutting-edge manufacturing technologies with a fully staffed team comprised of engineers, technologists and technicians and flexible service offerings, ICAMP at Canadore College is a critical resource for manufacturing businesses in nearly every industrial sector. 

ICAMP offers services including product design, prototyping, 3D printing, AI, advanced robotics, advanced simulation, additive manufacturing and process optimization. The Centre operates on a flexible service model, ranging from a basic fee structure for use of its facility/equipment up to complete project management of multi-year applied research ventures.
