Timmins Square will undergo a 70,000-square-foot expansion next year with plans to introduce new retail outlets. Property owner RioCan is in negotiations with a number of retailers with tentative plans to add eight to 10 new stores with the expansion.

RioCan is also talking with a national store willing to fill the space being vacated by Wal-Mart, which is moving to a stand-alone location on Riverside Drive.

Construction will likely start next spring with the stores open for business by next fall.
