“The metal fabrication and engineering company, having completed its 10,000-square-foot expansion to the existing bucket shop building, has diversified itself into all aspects of structural steel manufacturing,” a spokesperson for Steeltec says.

To handle the wide scope of work in this new shop, additional cranes have been installed indoors - 10-ton and a 20-ton, one of the largest shop cranes in Timmins.

When construction picks up in Timmins Steeltec will be ready as a result of their ambitious expansion.

"Building this 10,000-square-foot addition in quiet times might seem odd to some, but our philosophy has always been to develop in the down times so as to be ready for new business when the opportunities develop and present themselves," the spokesperson says.

Steeltec is one of four divisions of United Supply, which as a company employs a total of about 80 people.
