Northern College Aboriginal council on education announced in July the presence of Brock University’s bachelor of education in the Aboriginal adult education program starting September at the Porcupine campus.

The degree program is available to Native and non- Native learners who are currently working with Aboriginal adults in education, training health or community development.

Learners will access the degree program via site facilitators and videoconferencing support, which allows the students to remain employed in their home community.

The program starts and finishes with the same group of students.

“Although Aboriginal population, especially adults, still lag behind the general public in post-secondary education and literacy, we are reclaiming education for ourselves,” Aboriginal co-ordinator of Brock Centre for Adult Studies and Distance Learning, John Hodson says.
