Feedback from the community on how to retain and expand business in Timmins is filtering back into the Venture Centre and the Timmins Economic Development Corp., who are the midst of a business retention and expansion initiative. The two organizations need 200 to 300 replies from their survey for an accurate local economic snapshot to determine which factors encourage business to expand and which maintain the status quo. Some negative facts on the local economy cited include high transportation costs, lack of rail support, declining population and the need for secondary industries.
