Business owners in the tourism industry will have an opportunity to learn how to enhance their operations and increase competitiveness through Canadore College's e-tourism initiative. The college's e-tourism branch project received a $196,000 boost recently from the Government of Canada to assist with the $392,000 initiative. The project will help businesses apply the power of the Internet to their tourism operations, opening the doors for them to compete globally.

The courses will be delivered over the Internet and by CD-ROM in order to enhance and expand the accessibility of these programs to business owners and employees who previously could not access training opportunities because of remote locations or inability to leave the job for extended periods of time.

Consultations have indicated the industry would benefit from an e-tourism course.
