Thunder Bay may send a delegation to Silicon Valley to explore the possibility of exporting power there. The city's local hydro utility has received a number of telephone calls from company representatives inquiring about the city’s low-priced electricity. California has experienced blackouts in recent years. The Northwest Energy Association recently announced a $9-billion energy project, including a new 1,120-megawatt power plant in Thunder Bay. The project also includes new grids extending throughout the northwest and into the United States.
