Nu-Tech Metal Sales & Services is getting $300,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund to expand its Thunder Bay fabrication shop.
Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP Bill Mauro made the funding announcements to Nu-Tech and two other businesses.
The expansion involves adding 1,000 square feet of fabrication bay to accommodate a new high-definition plasma table, as well as various equipment and machinery. The company is pursuing this expansion and increased square footage in order to increase its current customer base and pursue markets in Western Canada.
“The equipment acquisition and upgrading plus the expansion of the fabrication area will increase our production capabilities, enabling us to be more competitive,” said Bob Felbel, president of Nu-Tech.
“This will also assist in providing a better service to local industry, and attract new national and international markets which will, in turn, allow us to hire more staff, creating employment in the respective areas.”
A home-based construction and renovation company is receiving $81,925. Gollat Contracting Corporation has earmarked the money to buy new equipment including a backhoe loader and compact evacavator.
Unveiled Bridal Boutique gets $25,000 to allow the shop owner to make leasehold improvements, to buy furniture and fixtures, and for advertising.
