As if Thunder Bay did not have enough power projects on its plate, it now has companies approaching the local hydro utility with proposals for wind turbines.

As if Thunder Bay did not have enough power projects on its plate, it now has companies approaching the local hydro utility with proposals for wind turbines.

The city is currently dealing with proposals for a $9-billion multi-faceted energy project and a $175-million gas turbine plant.

The voltage from wind power cannot be sent over long distances. The noise is minimal and the power is environmentally friendly. Toronto will be home to CanadaÕs first wind turbine facility. The 65-metre turbine with 29-metre blades will provide power for 250 homes.
