Environmental testing firm Testmark Laboratories has opened a new facility in Thunder Bay, which marks the fifth in Ontario for the company.

In a May 31 news release, the company said the facility will offer licensed and ISO 17025 accredited laboratory testing in the areas of microbiology, nutrient and general chemical analysis, metals and other key regulatory tests commonly required for environmental compliance and monitoring.

“Our clients continue to rely on our lab facilities for accurate environmental analytical testing and, as our business grows, so does the need to serve our Northern-based clients where they do business,” said Testmark president Dr. Mark Charbonneau in the release.

The company also said it was finalizing renovations at its Timmins facility, which will grow the lab from 3,000 square feet to more than 20,000 square feet.

The expansion will allow Testmark to offer a full metals analysis program to that region in addition to some expanded general chemistries.

Founded in Sudbury in 1998, Testmark provides routine and specialized laboratory testing services in the areas of organic, inorganic, microbiological, toxicological and industrial analyses.

The company serves industries including mining, municipal, environmental, electrical power generation and distribution, forensic, and health and cosmetics.

Additional labs are located in Kirkland Lake and Mississauga.
