Minaki Lodge near Kenora has been sold to Calgary-based Land Development Company for an undisclosed price. The lodge has been closed since 1998.

Since 1914 the Canadian National Railway, the Ontario government, Four Seasons Hotels, Wabaseemoong Independent First Nation and the Kassam family have all owned the lodge. The Ontario government poured $45 million into the facility before selling it in 1987.

This summer the new owners plan to open the marina and the adjacent restaurant and clean up the golf course. The company plans to convert units into condominiums and by May 2003 the resort will also have recreational vehicle spaces.
