The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA) announced Kristen Oliver will take over as executive director on May 6.

She replaces Charla Robinson, who's now president at the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.

“NOMA was pleased with the number and depth of those who applied for the position," said Kenora Mayor Dave Canfield, NOMA's vice-president, in an April 25 press release. "Ms. Oliver offers NOMA the best of a very good group given her mix of municipal, provincial and community leadership experience.”

Oliver spent seven years working for the City of Thunder Bay as policy assistant to former Mayor Lynn Peterson. She is currently president of Leadership Thunder Bay.

“I am really looking forward to working with the NOMA Board and Members,” said Oliver.

“It’s an exciting time in this region and I am confident that by working together, we will continue to move northwestern Ontario forward making our communities stronger."
