Northwestern Ontario's rich mining heritage is now accessible to all via a Web link through the Thunder Bay Public Library. With about 500 photographs and material contributed from libraries throughout the region, the link on the library's Web site was launched April 23. The link will include a search engine to find specific information on a town or subject. Entitled Gateway to Northwestern Ontario History, the Web link will include other industry sectors on logging, shipping and Thunder Bay's grain trade. Three provincial and federal grants worth $76,000 assisted the library in upgrading its computer network and Internet access to develop the site.
