Ontario Solicitor General David Turnbull will ask the Ontario Provincial Police to examine the circumstances surrounding the 26-hour closure of the Trans Canada Highway Jan. 2 and 3, between Nipigon and Schreiber. The highway was closed while the OPP and the province's special investigation unit looked for clues in the shooting of man who was being pursued by the OPP.
Motorists who were stranded during the closure missed medical and business appointments. Many expressed outrage at the length of the highway closure.
