Larry Hebert of Thunder Bay Hydro has been appointed to position of special projects manager of the company, a shift from the 20 plus years he served as general manager.

His new position came on the heels of an announcement by the Ontario government stating that they are prepared to waive the transfer tax in order to attract more mergers, acquisitions and partnerships in the hydro sector.

Hebert is ready to take advantage of the waiver. He is expecting to combine seven utility companies in the area, emphasizing that the northwest would have a much louder voice from a political perspective.

“We would easily be in the top 10 in the province, and that hopefully means we have a bigger say and are paid more attention to.”
