Four-laning the Trans Canada Highway and reinstating the spring bear hunt were mentioned by Premier Ernie Eves during a Tory fundraiser in Thunder Bay May 14.
Eves said the government has "committed a billion dollars a year to ensure that Ontario’s highways will continue to be vital arteries for commerce. That said, we’ll be four-laning the Trans Canada Highway."
The premier said the government will review the spring bear hunt and if scientific evidence supports it, the hunt will be restored.
"The survival of government is to have the honesty to admit when it makes a mistake," Eves said. "And it has to have the courage to correct it."
During the Tory leadership campaign, Eves made similar statements that became part of his "new policy initiatives" for the North.
