The Canadian Institute of Forestry recently awarded Bill Roll, manager of forestry and government affairs at Bowater Thunder Bay Woodlands, with the Tree of Life Award. The award, founded in 1989, recognizes individuals who have made superior and dedicated contributions to sustainable forest resource management and forest renewal.
Roll is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a bachelor of science in forestry and is an Ontario registered professional forester. He has worked for more than 30 years in the industry and is chair of the woodlands board, past chair of the forest management committee of the Ontario Forest Industry Association and past member of the Boreal West Round Table on the Ontario Lands for Life process.
