Emo councillors have recently considered donating hay to transport by rail to areas in Western Canada that have been devastated by drought. They are looking at obtaining approximately six bales of hay from each farmer in the area. Other communities in Ontario and Quebec are attempting to do the same, but it can be challenging since some of the farms are in remote regions and the railway is a distance away. Together the two provinces are making an effort to donate 500 tones of hay to the farmers who are experiencing drought for the third year in a row.
