There is no word yet on whether the rail system will reopen or if CNR will continue operating the trains out of Fort Frances.

An employee with CNR says the company is considering the move since it has been having problems with the border at Ranier, Minn. They have had similar challenges at Symington yard in Winnipeg to Fort Frances where crews have to be switched.

The company had to pay taxis to pick up and deploy crew on the regular basis.

Rainy River is apparently one of the few places where they have extended runs. It has been six years since the station has been opened and with any luck crews could begin working again as early as mid-August.
