Call centre considers setting up shop in Thunder Bay (5/02)

Thunder Bay may be landing another call centre. The city currently has four call centres that provide about 1,200 jobs. A Minnesota-based company is considering the city, and a southern Ontario community as potential locations.

Thunder Bay may be landing another call centre. The city currently has four call centres that provide about 1,200 jobs. A Minnesota-based company is considering the city, and a southern Ontario community as potential locations.

An economic development officer with the city has confirmed the unnamed company plans to establish a 300-seat call centre in Ontario. It is expected the operation could eventually employ 400 to 500 people.

The company has been taking applications in Thunder Bay to determine if there are enough qualified people to meet its needs.
