"Adapting," the theme of this year's Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada's (PAPTAC) conference, will build upon the successful formula the association used over the years to offer a meeting that focuses on technical and non-technical issues critical to the pulp and paper industry. PAPTAC Midwest Branch Annual Conference and Trade Show will be held from Sept. 26 to 28 at the Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay.

This year's conference will include two-and-a-half days of sessions featuring a keynote address by Sargio Torza, president of Andritz Canada Inc., a presidents' panel with well-known leaders from the forestry industry, a session on market forum and an address by the guest speaker, Bob Moran, vice-president of Bowater Inc., Greenville, S.C.

The 2000 annual conference and trade show was enjoyed by over 300 mill participants and 56 exhibitors.

Following on last year's success, the branch is planning to offer three short courses on chip quality, energy management and leadership breakthrough on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Valhalla Inn.
