University VP appointed head of national distance education association (7/02)

Laurentian University's Denis Mayer has been appointed the president of the Canadian Association for Distance Education (CADE) during the organization's annual conference in June.

Laurentian University's Denis Mayer has been appointed the president of the Canadian Association for Distance Education (CADE) during the organization's annual conference in June.

Previously serving as its vice-president, he is the associate vice-president of Laurentian's student affairs and has 15 years experience in distance education.

Mayer plans to collaborate with similar associations in Canada and internationally, and continue to exert influence on senior levels of government.

CADE is a national association of professional educators committed to the advancement and evolution of distance education in Canada.

The association is comprised of a network of about 600 distance-education specialists.
