Prominent Sudburians were recognized at the 15th Annual Community Builders Awards at the Caruso Club, March 1.
The awards, hosted by Northern Life, celebrate and showcase the outstanding contributions of exceptional citizens in nine categories.
“When you create a sense of community, amazing things happen,” said Northern Life publisher Abbas Homayed.
"Vision, perseverance, passion, determination, selflessness; these are the traits of Community Builders. The people we honour tonight exemplify these attributes."
Recipients in the various categories are:

Environment – The Foodshed Project: Sudbury Community Garden Network
Health Care – City of Lakes Family Health Team
Sports and Recreation – Gord Apolloni
Young Leader – earthdancers
Legacy Award – Ted Szilva
Northern Life president Michael Atkins said: “The purpose of our annual gathering is to celebrate the people among us who represent the best about us. The currency is not money; it is generosity and purpose. This community DNA has never been more important."
