Sunwire-Telecommunication

Sunwire Inc., a Sudbury-based telecommunications provider, announced its acquisition of Northern Voice & Data, a Sudbury cloud and information technology (IT) firm.

In a Jan. 7 news release, Sunwire said the acquisition enables them to offer a wider array of IT and telecommunication solutions that include web, phone lines, phone systems, cloud services, off-site backups, IT services and video surveillance.

“Each of our teams of experts offer unparalleled levels of knowledge and experience across multiple technology platforms,” said Jason Legault, Sunwire president-CEO in a statement.

“With the addition of Northern Voice & Data’s portfolio, we now offer a premium experience regardless of a client’s existing solution or infrastructure.”

Under the terms of the deal, the companies will remain operating as separate entities. No changes in staffing or operations are anticipated but Sunwire said investments will be made in employee education, hiring more staff, upgrading its facilities, and new equipment acquisition.

“Sunwire will continue to provide Internet and telephone solutions, while Northern Voice & Data will concentrate on cloud services, managed IT services and video surveillance,” said Northern Voice & Data president-CEO Ed Donaldson in the release.

Sunwire was founded as a software development firm in 2009, starting by offering customizable and scalable IP-based business phone system solutions.

Today, the company prides itself as being one of the region’s fastest growing voice and web service providers.
