A municipally owned call centre in Sudbury, closed since December, is calling people back to work after being sold to a Toronto operator. Capreol Connex, which was owned by the former Capreol Community Development Corp. prior to amalgamation, has been sold to Acrobat Results Marketing Inc. of Toronto. Taxpayers sprang for the $1.2-million start-up funding in 2000, including more than $570,000 in federal grants, plus $600,000 from the former Town of Capreol. The call centre closed Dec. 21 after losing a major sales contract, which resulted in the laying off of 80 full-time employees and 120 part-time staff.
