Stack Brewing, a Sudbury craft brewery, received $125,000 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund to acquire brew house equipment and an automated canning system.

Owner Shawn Mailloux told Northern Life newspaper, Oct. 10, that it had been eyeballing expansion three months after opening.

“I’ve just wired the deposit for bigger equipment,” said Mailloux.
The equipment will enable the brewery to make 15 times more beer than their current capacity.

“It is a good fit for Sudbury,” said Mailloux. ““It just makes sense. It will take the same amount of time and effort to make a batch on the system that we are using now as it will take on the larger system.”
Stack Brewery first opened at the end of June and, at time, has been selling out its batches within an hour.

The company is now brewing almost seven days a week and making 45 batches of beer a month in eight different styles. The equipment will be delivered in late February.

“There are huge wait times for this equipment,” said Mailloux. “It’s where the industry is right now — it’s booming.”
