The former head of Science North and the consulting dean at the Northern Ontario School ofMedicine (NOSM) are amongst the honourees being recognized during convocation ceremonies at Laurentian University in Sudbury.

Dr. Arnie Aberman, the consulting dean of the NOSM, and Jim Marchbank, Science North’s former leader, will receive honorary doctorates on June 4 and June 7, respectively.

Aberman’s expertise was instrumental in designing the structure and operation of the school. He also contributed to the development of the business plan and the governance model at NOSM.

Marchbank, who led Science North for 25 years, oversaw the establishment and growth of the science centre from its earliest days. He is credited with leading the organization to its current stature as Canada’s second largest science centre.

Other recipients include Ronald F. Caza, a minority language rights advocate; philanthropists Ron and Nancy Clark, of Caledonia; and Janice Laking, a former teacher and municipal politician, who will be acknowledged during a ceremony in Barrie.
