The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. (CMHC) reports Sudbury housing starts for July were well above the month’s 10-year average.

This year, a total of 186 detached single-family houses were started,, about 26 per cent above the 148 starts reported last year to Aug. 31.

“The 44 units started and 54 permits taken out at the City of Greater Sudbury building services department mean that 2004 stands out as another strong year for housing starts in Greater Sudbury,” says Warren Philp, CMHC’s Northern Ontario market analyst. CMHC has recorded 320 single-detached housing starts this year in Greater Sudbury.
