Laurentian University’s Goodman School of Mines and one of Canada’s leading management and training providers, Procept Associates, have partnered to offer professional development courses in project management.

Project Management Essentials and Project Closeout Best Practices will be the first two courses offered under this partnership in late March.

“We have discovered in speaking with industry professionals that there is a need for training in project management,” said Bruce Jago, Goodman’s founding executive director.

“There is a need for this type of programming in Sudbury and the surrounding Northern Ontario cities that is affordable, professional, and within a reasonable distance from Sudbury. The goal is to make these courses as accessible as possible to anyone that lives in the area.”

Other project management courses both introductory and at the advanced level are planned for later in 2017 and will form the basis of a project management certificate at Laurentian.

These courses will benefit managers, leaders, those responsible for managing smaller projects and participants on a project team of any size, especially those who have not yet been exposed to the tools, techniques, and terminology of formal project management.

“Expanding professional development opportunities right here in Sudbury, particularly in the area of project management, will provide local businesses with the tools and techniques they need to be successful and in generating more business,” said Carlo Barrettara, Procept Associates president.
