Sudbury area mining supply and service companies continue to look ahead and work to stay ahead of the curve.

The Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Service Association (SAMSSA) AGM will take place on Friday, December 2, at 8:30 am at Dynamic Earth.

Members can look forward to an update on the past year's activities, along with a guest speaker who will look more towards the future.

Michael Winship, director of Rubicon Minerals Corp, and 2016 through 2017 president of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. Winship's lecture, “Future Shop? Mining Trends and Upcoming Needs for the Industry,”  will use his extensive experience in the minerals industry and share his predictions for the next few years.

The talk will be followed by the induction of Don MacLean, founder of MacLean Engineering, into the SAMSSA Hall of Fame.

MacLean started his career in 1959 at the Levack Mine as an underground miner before continuing on to start his namesake business in 1973, based out of Collingwood. MacLean maintains an active day-to-day role in the company, although it is now run by his son Kevin.

The release from SAMSSA said the AGM will conclude with a special announcement from Science North and Dynamic Earth.
