Rod Raycroft has been named the new executive director of Northeastern Ontario Tourism.

Rod Raycroft has been appointed as the new executive director for Northeastern Ontario Tourism (NeONT).

“Rod’s leadership skills, his marketing expertise, and his extensive knowledge of the tourism industry make him the ideal candidate to take NeONT to the next level by building upon the success already achieved by former executive director Donna MacLeod,” said Guy Lamarche, chair of NeONT’s board, in a release.

Raycroft most recently was the manager of the Mount Washington Resort Association in Courtenay, B.C. He has held managerial positions in marketing and communications with the Yukon government’s Department of Tourism and Culture, and has also held senior communications positions in the federal government with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development.

“Northeastern Ontario is an amazing destination,” said Raycroft. “I’m honoured to become the executive director of an organization that will continue to build on its accomplishments by working on long-term goals, creating better economic opportunities in our communities for our industry members and our residents,” he added.

Raycroft begins his new role on July 24.

Northeastern Ontario Tourism is a not-for-profit organization that works with its partners to build a thriving tourism economy in the region. It covers an area of roughly 184,000 square kilometres from the Ontario-Québec border on the east to Spanish in the west, and from the French River in the south to the James Bay coast in the North.
