New Sudbury nursing home opens (9/02)

A 128-bed long-term care facility providing 150 jobs opened in Sudbury in early September. The $8-million for-profit Elizabeth Centre in Valley East is owned by Erna Baniulis and Alexander Jarlette, who operate 12 other nursing homes in Ontario.

A 128-bed long-term care facility providing 150 jobs opened in Sudbury in early September. The $8-million for-profit Elizabeth Centre in Valley East is owned by Erna Baniulis and Alexander Jarlette, who operate 12 other nursing homes in Ontario.

Most of the beds have already been claimed at the bilingual centre, which will provide 24-hour nursing care. Some of the features on the 16-acre property include a hair salon, a small greenhouse, a secure courtyard, gardens and walking trails.
