Mining service company named Community Builder

Sudbury’s SCR Mining & Tunnelling among nine recognized with community award

SCR Mining & Tunnelling in Sudbury has been named a Community Builder.

The mining service company received one of nine Community Builders Awards of Excellence, handed out on Feb. 28 and hosted by Northern Life/Sudbury.com, a sister publication to Northern Ontario Business.

SCR – a mine contractor offering mine development, civil services, underground and surface construction, and more – has worked on projects such as Glencore’s Fraser Mine, Rubicon Minerals’ Phoenix Gold Project, and North American Palladium’s Lac des Iles Mine.

The company was recognized in the economic development category.

"Without question, it's people who put the ‘great’ in Greater Sudbury,” said Abbas Homayed, publisher at Sudbury.com/Northern Life and Northern Ontario Business.

"There are visionaries, leaders and doers among us with the tenacity and gumption to make a difference. This awards program was created to recognize the outstanding individuals who are building community through their efforts."
