Mining safety conference to focus on high-risk emergencies

Workplace Safety North will host its 21st annual Mining Health and Safety Conference April 9-11 in Sudbury.

This year’s theme is 'Preparing for High-risk Emergencies in Mines' and celebrates the 90-year anniversary of Ontario Mine Rescue.

Each year, about 300 attendees gather to learn and share their knowledge about mining health and safety, and network with industry professionals. 

Key areas of focus for presentations include: 

  • emergency preparedness and mine rescue,
  • research and innovation,
  • safety culture and management systems,
  • workplace well-being and mental health, and
  • hazards specific to underground work.
