The Mining Innovation, Rehabilitation and Applied Research Corp. (MIRARCO) is receiving $100,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. (NOHFC) to develop a software tool that will help mining companies generate short-term work schedules for crews and equipment.

This project will support four researchers and programmer positions and will benefit the mining sector by improving day-to-day operational scheduling decisions and help companies with their long-term business plans.

Funding comes from NOHFC’s Emerging Technology program.

Based in Sudbury, MIRARCO develops innovative solutions to mining industry challenges in the areas of geomechanics, hazard assessment and risk mitigation, visualization and optimization, mining safety research, environment and sustainability, and climate change adaptation.
