Legend Boats received the SME (small-medium sized enterprise) Excellence Award from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce at the Ontario Business Achievement Awards (OBAAs) on Nov. 29 in Toronto.

The award is presented to a business that exemplifies what the Ontario Chamber calls "forward thinking."

For 34 years, the annual event has showcased some of the province’s most successful business and the positive impact they have had on Ontario’s economy.

Legend Boats general manager Jamie Dewar was at the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of Legend.

“We were so grateful to be part of the Ontario Business Awards event and to share this amazing evening with so many great companies,” he said. “I am truly honoured and couldn't be more proud of the Legend team for being awarded the SME Excellence award.”

Legend Boats is one of Canada’s largest boat companies and one of the fastest growing boat brands on the market.

The company, which was started by two local families — the Duhamels and the Dewers — in the 1980s, recently completed an expansion of their Sudbury location in Whitefish, in addition to opening a new retail outlet near Montreal.
