Hoisting practices focus of mining seminar (5/02)

Laurentian University's school of engineering and Wabi Iron and Steel Corp. of New Liskeard will co-host an information seminar on mine-hoisting practices in South Africa. This session will be held in Room 110 at the Laurentian campus.

This session will be held in Room 110 at the Laurentian campus. Hamilton Stephenson of Home Hydraulics, from South Africa, and Stan Gorzalczynski of Wabi Iron and Steel Corp. will discuss South African mine-hoisting practices.

They will describe the key benefits of technology, as well as increased cage and skip safety and durability. They will also talk about the limitations of the present safety arrest technology.

The seminar will take place on May 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
