The Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Ministry of Labour are investigating a fatal industrial accident at High Strength Plates and Profiles Inc. in the Greater Sudbury community of Lively.
On May 21, at approximately 11:47 a.m., police received a 911 call reporting that an employee of High Strength Plates and Profiles Inc. had suffered injuries relating to a metal plate falling. The 38-year-old male was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The initial investigation, which also involved the Coroner’s Office, indicated the victim was using a crane to move a plate of steel to a cutting machine when the load became insecure.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled today. The Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Ministry of Labour are continuing to investigate.
