Hoping to reshape the image of Sudbury's vacancy-plagued City Centre mall, the new owner Vista Hospitality has branded the building as the Rainbow Outlet Centre, intending to attract a new mix of tenants by offering brand name and manufacturers' clearance items. Vanna Shoes, a small discount shoe-store chain, opened their newest outlet in the mall in late August.

Vista has plans for outdoor renovations to upgrade the mall's facade, as well as feature several restaurants along the Elm Street side.

Interior renovations to the attached Ramada Inn will be completed soon. As part of the revitalized Ramada Plaza Hotel and Convention Centre, Vista hopes to strike a deal with the city to realize a convention facility. The city is studying whether to subsidize a new convention centre as part of a public-private partership.
