The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities has approved two new architecture programs to be offered in September 2014 by Collège Boréal in Sudbury.
The two-year Architectural Techniques program will give Collège Boréal students the job skills they need to practise this profession within architectural and engineering firms. The Architectural Technology program adds a full year of specialization to further develop the skills acquired in the Architectural Techniques program, including project planning and the production of specifications and technical reports.
“The addition of two new college programs in architecture testifies, once again, to Collège Boréal’s status as a leader and innovator,” college president Pierre Riopel said in a news release.
“More in tune with its community and the needs of the labour market than ever before, Collège Boréal will soon be offering two exceptional programs to help its future graduates gain recognition and excel in this competitive sector."
Between 2006 and 2010, enrolment in college-level architectural programs in Ontario rose by 51 per cent.
The college said it would explore partnering opportunities with Laurentian University’s School of Architecture, which opened last week.
