Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci may be retiring from provincial politics but the funding largesse keeps flowing in.

The former Northern Development and Mines minister delivered almost $5 million from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund for renovations to a former school in Sudbury to make way for a health research facility, the Advanced Medical Research Institute of Canada.

The facility, which is part of Health Sciences North, conducts research for cancer, infectious diseases and vaccines. The province said 18 jobs will be created.

Earlier in the week, Bartolucci announced $701,276 was coming through Heritage Fund to produce the second season of an animated TVO series, Monkey See Monkey Do, in Sudbury.

The money is expected to create 42 jobs and create job opportunities for graduates from Collège Boréal’s and Cambrian College’s animation and related programs.
