The provincial government has granted $68,000 for improvements to maple syrup production in Parry Sound and Muskoka.

Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller has stated that the funding is being provided to help modernize the production facilities of four maple syrup producers, thus increasing their long-term sustainability.

Long Farms of Laurier, Golden Treasure Maple Syrup, Hubbert's Maple Products and Brooklands Farms will increase the total number of taps by 8,000.

The farms will also increase crop quality and yield through the purchase of infrastructure including pipelines, vacuum pumps, steam hoods, packaging systems and storage facilities.
