A federal investment of $33,750 will help Elliot Lake upgrade amenities at Mississagi Provincial Park, a popular stop for locals and tourists.

The funds will allow the community, located along the North Shore of Lake Huron, to upgrade the boat launch, docks, playground equipment, amphitheatre, and log cabin, which is expected to increase park activity and visitation.

The provincial park, which is operated seasonally by the City of Elliot Lake from May to September, is also used by neighbouring First Nations for education, traditional teachings and ceremonies.

Funding for the work comes from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.
